Pushbuild

design-review for Claude Code

A free plugin that checks a web page in code instead of guessing from a screenshot: is the layout broken anywhere, is the design any good, and which 3 to 6 changes matter most.

What it does

The plugin adds two skills to Claude Code. Both run on your own computer, in the official Playwright Docker image, and send nothing anywhere.

  • ui-audit: is it broken? It loads the page at 13 widths, from 320 to 1920 pixels, and tests every element for sideways scrolling, off-screen or overlapping elements, clipped or spilling text, important elements that are hidden or covered, table columns lost in a sideways scroller, small tap targets and text on phones, and stretched images. Each finding names the element and the widths where it happens.
  • design-review: is it good? It measures page length, footer length, where the main call to action sits against the fold, and section spacing, then takes phone, dark mode and desktop screenshots. Claude scores an 11-point design rubric against them, makes the fixes through your CSS variables, and re-checks the page to show it improved.

Ask Claude to “review the design of http://localhost:3000”, “check this page on mobile” or “why does this look amateur”. It also works on a local HTML file, and on pages behind a login by running the audit script in your own browser.

Install

In Claude Code, run:

/plugin marketplace add pushbuild/design-review
/plugin install design-review@pushbuild

It needs Docker. The first run downloads the Playwright image once. Instructions, scripts and the MIT license are in the GitHub repository.

Optional: redesign mockups

When a page works but looks generic, the plugin can ask for redesign references for Claude to rebuild in code. Set PUSHBUILD_API_KEY, ask for mockups, and it sends a screenshot of the page plus a short brief from the review, and gets back 1 to 3 redesign images.

Mockups cost $0.45 per image returned, paid from Pushbuild API credit. Get a key and buy credit in your API account. You can also use your own OpenRouter key instead by setting OPENROUTER_API_KEY.

Nothing is sent unless a key is set and you ask for mockups. The review itself is always free and local.

Your data

Screenshots and briefs are sent to our image model provider (OpenRouter) only to generate the mockups, and are not stored by Pushbuild after the request completes. We keep only billing records: time, key, number of images, amount.
