You decide how hands-on we are
- Each computer has a level: Chat only, I’ll show you, You can look, Ask me first, Go ahead or Do it for me.
- New computers start at Ask me first: before we start working, you get an Allow card in chat.
- At Go ahead and above, we can start work without you pressing anything. Scheduled automations run at Ask me first and above, even when nobody is at the computer. Below Ask me first, nothing runs on its own.
- An owner can set the range of levels for everyone in the company.
Your level, then a few switches
- Your level sets what we can see and do. On top of it, each computer has these switches:
- Keep a record: a replay of our work, a screen image every few seconds plus the steps.
- Manage this computer: files, programs, installs and settings. Off until you turn it on, and your computer still asks you before anything that needs admin rights.
- Learn how my web apps work: in the advanced browser version only, off until you turn it on.
- Change any switch in the app or in your client area. It takes effect immediately, in both places.
While we are working
- A Pushbuild is helping bar is on screen with a Stop button. Stop ends our work at once.
- The desktop app pauses whenever you use the mouse or keyboard, so we never compete with you for control.
- We can’t press Connect’s own controls (Stop, the switches, Start). Only you can.
- Each stretch of work on your screen ends on its own after 2 hours. A schedule or a new request can start another.
- Removing a computer in your client area cuts it off immediately.
- When your level lets us look, the desktop app can see the whole screen. Coming Limiting what we see to chosen apps or windows.
- Ask me before sending pictures: each screenshot we ask for waits for your Send.
Everything is written down
- Your Activity page lists every connection and action: who, what, when and why.
- Recordings are deleted automatically after 30 days, or sooner if you ask. Coming Deleting them yourself.
- Our team can pull a computer’s recent Connect log to fix a problem. It holds no screen images and nothing you typed.
Audit mode and Discovery
- Both run only after you turn them on, for the days you choose. Nothing is captured while Connect simply runs.
- Discovery notes which apps and websites are used, and for how long. No screenshots, no window titles, nothing typed.
- Audit mode notes the steps: which program or page, which button or field by its name, and the type of file opened or saved. For email on the web it notes the sender’s domain, the subject and attachment types.
- It never keeps what is typed, passwords, or the text of emails and documents.
- Steps are masked on your computer before they leave it: anything that looks like a password, card number or Social Security number is removed. With Mask my details on, names, numbers and addresses become placeholders too.
- You see your own steps first and can delete any of them. We see them after 24 hours, or sooner if the owner presses Share. A badge shows while it runs, with Pause. Coming Stop on the badge.
Show us how and web learning
- Show us how records the steps of a task you choose: the window, the controls you click by name, and what you type. Password fields are always left out.
- Recordings of work in your browser blank everything typed into forms.
- Learn how my web apps work records the web requests behind each step so we can automate them. Passwords, cookies and sign-in details are hidden.
- Screen images leave your computer only while your level allows it, or when you start Show us how. Discovery and Audit mode send no screen images.
Your logins
- A login saved in the Connect app is locked to that computer. To use it, Connect types it in itself; we never see it.
- A login saved in your browser is locked to that browser the same way.
- Viewing saved logins in your client area needs two-step sign-in, and every use of a login is logged with its reason.
- Logins saved earlier through the website, not the app, can be shown to our team for use on your computer. Each time needs a reason and appears in your Activity log.
Encryption and who sees your data
- Everything travels encrypted (TLS).
- Your files, logins, invoices and recordings are stored encrypted (AES-256) with a key unique to your company. That key is itself encrypted with a master key kept on a separate disk.
- Each company’s data is kept apart from every other, and automated tests check it.
- Your own people see it by role: owners see everything in the company, and members see their own computers in Audit mode. On our side, our team, through tools that log what they do.
- We don’t sell or share your data. The services that run our tools (hosting, email, payments and data processing) get only what they need for that job.
Installing and removing
- The Mac app is signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple.
- The Windows installer is not yet code-signed, so Windows may show Windows protected your PC: choose More info, then Run anyway. Coming A signed installer.
- Uninstall Connect the normal way for your computer. On a Mac you can also turn off Screen Recording and Accessibility for Connect at any time in System Settings.
- We delete your company’s data on request: files, recordings, logins, audit steps and chats.
- We never handle health information. Please don’t connect a computer used for patient records.
