Pushbuild

Every system's data in one place, updated while you sleep.

We build pipelines that pull data from the tools you run on, clean and join it, and load it into one database or warehouse on a schedule, so reports and dashboards read from a single source. Each run is logged and checked, and failures alert someone.

Sound familiar?

What we hear from businesses before a project like this starts.

  • Monthly reporting means exporting CSVs from six tools and gluing them together in Excel.
  • Numbers in the dashboard don't match the CRM or the accounting system.
  • Our database has no history; we can't see what a figure was last quarter.
  • A pipeline someone built breaks whenever an API changes and fails silently.
  • We're paying for an ETL tool that does a fraction of what we use.

What buyers usually need

The requests that come up most often for this kind of work, and what each one takes to work properly.

01

Scheduled extracts

Data pulled from APIs, databases and files on a schedule, incrementally where possible.

02

Cleaning and joining

Matching customers, orders and invoices across systems with documented rules.

03

A reporting database

PostgreSQL, BigQuery or Snowflake tables designed for the questions you ask.

04

History

Snapshots so you can see how numbers changed over time.

05

Checks and alerts

Row counts, totals and freshness checked every run, with an alert when something is off.

Tools that come up most: Python, SQL, dbt, Airbyte, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Snowflake, Google Sheets, Looker Studio, Power BI, Metabase and cron or Cloud Scheduler.

What you get

Concrete pieces, each one something you can open and check when it's done.

Typical projects

Example packages to show the shape of the work. These are examples, not past clients; yours gets its own written scope.

Example package

First pipeline

Two or three sources loaded into one database on a schedule.

You get

  • Sources and fields agreed in writing
  • Scheduled loads with logs
  • Row-count and freshness checks
  • Data dictionary

Example package

Reporting layer

Clean, joined tables and a dashboard on top.

You get

  • Business rules written down
  • Transform layer
  • Dashboard on the clean tables
  • Notes on each metric

Example package

Pipeline rescue

An existing pipeline reviewed, repaired and given checks and alerts.

You get

  • Review of current jobs
  • Fixes for failing steps
  • Checks and alerts added
  • Runbook

How we approach it

The habits that keep this kind of project from going wrong.

1

Agree the numbers first

We write down how each metric is counted before building, so the dashboard matches what finance expects.

2

Incremental and replayable

Loads pick up changes and can be re-run for a date range without duplicates.

3

Your accounts

Warehouse, credentials and schedules live in your cloud accounts.

How we work

You know what you're getting before work begins, and you see it working at every milestone.

  1. You describe it

Tell us what you need in your own words, and which tools you already use. A few lines is plenty to start.

  2. A written scope

We reply with a short written scope: what gets built, what is out of scope, which accounts we need, and how we'll both know it works. You know what you're getting before work begins.

  3. Milestones you review

The work is split into milestones. At each one you see it working in your own account and sign it off before we go on.

  4. Handover and a 30-day fix window

You get the working system, its documentation and a walkthrough. If anything we built breaks in the next 30 days, we fix it at no charge.

What shapes the scope

  • Number and type of sources
  • Data volume and refresh frequency
  • Warehouse choice
  • How messy the matching rules are

Always included

  • A written scope before work starts
  • Milestones you review and sign off
  • Documentation and a walkthrough at handover
  • A 30-day window for fixes, at no charge

Pushbuild has built software for businesses since 2010, for more than 40 clients. Every project is led by a former public-company CTO, from Groton, Massachusetts. See products we've built.

Questions people ask first

Do we need a data warehouse?

Not always. A PostgreSQL database or even a well-structured Google Sheet can be enough at small volume. The scope recommends the simplest option that fits.

Can you use the ETL tool we already pay for?

Yes, if it covers your sources. Sometimes a short Python job is cheaper to run; we say which in the scope.

How do we know the data is right?

Each run checks counts and totals against the source, and we reconcile key figures with you before handover.

What happens after handover?

For 30 days we fix anything we built that doesn't work as scoped, at no charge.

Tell us what you need built.

Email a few lines about what you want and which tools you use, or call. We reply with questions or a written scope.
