Pushbuild

The first version of your app, built to keep.

We build the first working version of a web app: the one workflow your users need, logins, payments if you charge, and an admin screen for your team. It runs in your own accounts, and you get the source code and the notes to carry on.

Sound familiar?

What we hear from businesses before a project like this starts.

  • We have a spreadsheet and a process that works, and want it to be a proper app for customers.
  • The idea is clear, but every quote we get is for a six-month build.
  • We started in a no-code tool and hit its limits.
  • Our team runs on forms and email, and needs one internal tool to hold it together.
  • We need something real to show investors or pilot customers, not a slide.

What buyers usually need

The requests that come up most often for this kind of work, and what each one takes to work properly.

01

One workflow that works end to end

The single thing a user comes to do, from sign-up to result, before anything else is added.

02

Logins and accounts

Sign-up, sign-in, password reset and roles, using a proven auth service rather than a home-made one.

03

Payments

Stripe checkout or subscriptions, with receipts and a record of who has paid, when the app charges.

04

An admin screen

A page where your team can see users, fix records and answer support questions without touching the database.

05

Hosting you own

Deployed to your own hosting and database accounts, with backups and a separate test copy.

06

A codebase someone else can pick up

Plain, documented code in a common stack, so a future developer is not starting from zero.

Tools that come up most: React, Next.js, Node, Python, Postgres, Supabase, Firebase, Stripe, Vercel, Render, AWS and Google Cloud.

What you get

Concrete pieces, each one something you can open and check when it's done.

Typical projects

Example packages to show the shape of the work. These are examples, not past clients; yours gets its own written scope.

Example package

Clickable prototype

The main screens as a working front end on sample data, to test with users before building the back end.

You get

  • The core screens, working in a browser
  • Sample data that behaves like the real thing
  • A list of what was learned and what to build next
  • The source code

Example package

First working version

The core workflow end to end, with logins and an admin screen, live in your own accounts.

You get

  • Core workflow working end to end
  • Accounts, sign-in and roles
  • Admin screen for your team
  • Live and test copies in your hosting

Example package

First version with payments

Everything in the first version, plus charging customers.

You get

  • Stripe checkout or subscriptions
  • Receipts and a payments record
  • Access tied to payment status
  • A test log of paid, failed and refunded paths

Example package

Internal tool

One app your team uses to replace a tangle of forms, sheets and email.

You get

  • The screens your team needs
  • Data moved in from the current sheets
  • Roles for staff and managers
  • Notes for running and changing it

How we approach it

The habits that keep this kind of project from going wrong.

1

Smallest version that is useful

We agree in writing what the first version does and, just as important, what it does not. Extras wait for version two.

2

Common, boring stack

We use widely known tools, so the next developer can work on it and hosting stays cheap.

3

You see it working every week

Each milestone is a link you can click, not a status report.

4

Your accounts from day one

Code, hosting, database and payment accounts are yours from the start.

How we work

A written scope first, then working progress you can check, then a proper handover.

  1. You describe it

Tell us what you need in your own words, and which tools you already use. A few lines is plenty to start.

  2. A written scope

We reply with a short written scope: what gets built, what is out of scope, which accounts we need, and how we'll both know it works. You know what you're getting before work begins.

  3. Milestones you review

The work is split into milestones. At each one you see it working in your own account and sign it off before we go on.

  4. Handover and a 30-day fix window

You get the working system, its documentation and a walkthrough. If anything we built breaks in the next 30 days, we fix it at no charge.

What shapes the scope

  • How many kinds of user and screens
  • Whether the app takes payments
  • What it has to connect to
  • Whether data moves in from an existing system

Always included

  • A written scope before work starts
  • Milestones you review and sign off
  • Documentation and a walkthrough at handover
  • A 30-day window for fixes, at no charge

Pushbuild has built software for businesses since 2010, for more than 40 clients. Every project is led by a former public-company CTO, from Groton, Massachusetts. See products we've built.

Questions people ask first

Who owns the code?

You do. It lives in your own repository and runs in your own hosting accounts from the start.

Can you continue an app someone else started?

Often, yes. We review it first and tell you in writing what is worth keeping. See also our page on finishing apps built in Lovable, Bolt or Bubble.

Will it work on phones?

Yes. Every screen is built to work on a phone browser. A separate app-store app is its own scope.

What if we want changes halfway through?

Small adjustments inside the agreed scope are included. Anything new gets its own short written scope, and we only do it if you approve it.

What happens after handover?

For 30 days we fix anything we built that does not work as the scope describes, at no charge. After that, further work is scoped the same way.

Tell us what you need built.

Email a few lines about what you want and which tools you use, or call. We reply with questions or a written scope.
