What it returns
Search what Section 527 political organizations report to the IRS: contributions they received (Form 8872 Schedule A), money they spent (Schedule B), their filed reports with period totals (Form 8872), and their registrations (Form 8871). These are groups such as governors' and attorneys general associations, state-level PACs and issue groups that file with the IRS rather than the FEC.
Filter by organization name or EIN, contributor or payee name, employer, purpose, state, city, minimum amount and date range, newest or largest first.
Each contribution has the organization, contributor, employer, occupation, city, state, ZIP, amount, year-to-date total and date. Each expenditure has the payee, purpose, amount and date. Reports carry the period, report type, election date and state, and total contributions and expenditures. Registrations carry contact email, place and stated purpose.
Source: the IRS Political Organization Filing and Disclosure full data file, rebuilt weekly. About 10 million contributions and 8.5 million expenditures since 2000. Street addresses of contributors and payees are left out; city, state and ZIP remain. Figures are as filed with the IRS, including amended reports, so a contribution can appear on both an original and an amended report.
Charged per record returned.
