Pushbuild

A Shopify developer for small and growing stores.

For Shopify stores that need a developer for setup, theme work, apps or integrations. We set up new Shopify stores, change themes, build custom apps and connect Shopify to your inventory, accounting and shipping. Every job is scoped in writing first and built in your own store, on a copy of your theme before anything goes live.

Sound familiar?

What we hear from businesses before a project like this starts.

  • Agencies we called only work with large Plus brands.
  • Our theme was changed by three different freelancers and now nothing lines up.
  • We need a feature no app in the Shopify App Store does quite right.
  • Orders, stock and invoices are copied by hand between Shopify and our other systems.
  • We want a new store set up properly the first time.
  • Our pages got slow after we added apps.

What buyers usually need

The requests that come up most often for this kind of work, and what each one takes to work properly.

01

Store setup

Products, collections, payments, shipping, taxes, domains and email set up and checked before launch.

02

Theme changes

Sections, product pages and landing pages built into your theme, on a duplicate first.

03

A custom Shopify app

A private app for the feature you need, built on Shopify's own APIs and extension points.

04

Integrations

Orders, stock and customers synced with your ERP, 3PL, accounting system or CRM.

05

Speed

Apps and scripts measured, the heavy ones removed or replaced, with before and after numbers.

06

Migration to Shopify

Products, customers and orders moved from WooCommerce or another platform, with redirects so search traffic follows.

Tools that come up most: Shopify, Shopify Plus, Liquid, Online Store 2.0 themes, Shopify Admin and Storefront APIs, Shopify Functions, checkout and admin extensions, Hydrogen, Klaviyo, QuickBooks, Xero, ShipStation, NetSuite.

How we approach it

The habits that keep this kind of project from going wrong.

1

Your store, your access

We work through staff or collaborator access you can remove at any time.

2

Duplicate first

Theme changes are made on a copy and published only when you approve.

3

Small stores welcome

One feature or one fix is a real project to us.

How we work

You know what you're getting before work begins, and you see it working at every milestone.

  1. You describe it

Tell us what you need in your own words, and which tools you already use. A few lines is plenty to start.

  2. A written scope

We reply with a short written scope: what gets built, what is out of scope, which accounts we need, and how we'll both know it works. You know what you're getting before work begins.

  3. Milestones you review

The work is split into milestones. At each one you see it working in your own account and sign it off before we go on.

  4. Handover and a 30-day fix window

You get the working system, its documentation and a walkthrough. If anything we built breaks in the next 30 days, we fix it at no charge.

What shapes the scope

  • Store setup or existing store
  • Theme or custom app
  • Systems to connect
  • Number of products and markets

Always included

  • A written scope before work starts
  • Milestones you review and sign off
  • Documentation and a walkthrough at handover
  • A 30-day window for fixes, at no charge

Pushbuild has built software for businesses since 2010, for more than 40 clients. Every project is led by a former public-company CTO, based in Massachusetts. See example builds.

Questions people ask first

Do you work on small Shopify stores?

Yes. Most of our Shopify work is for small and mid-size stores, often one feature or one integration at a time.

Can you build a custom Shopify app?

Yes. We build private apps for your store on Shopify's own APIs, and put the code in a repository you own.

Will changes break my live store?

Theme changes are built on a duplicate theme and published when you approve. Apps are tested on a development store first.

Can you move our store to Shopify?

Yes. We move products, customers and orders and set up redirects so links and search traffic keep working.

What happens after handover?

For 30 days we repair anything we built that does not work as the scope describes, at no charge. After that, further work is scoped the same way and agreed with you before we start.

Do it once, we automate it. Show us the job one time and it runs on its own after that, in the tools you already use. Not sure where to start? Start with an Automation Audit.

Tell us what you need built.

Email a few lines about what you want and which tools you use, or call. We reply with questions or a written scope.
