Pushbuild

Copy a table from a website into Google Sheets

A Google Apps Script that copies a table from a web page into Google Sheets, and refreshes it whenever you run it again.

How to set it up

  1. Set up the sheet. Open a Google Sheet. Put the page address in cell B1 and, if the table isn't the first one on the page, its number in B2 (0 is the first).
  2. Add the script. Open Extensions, then Apps Script. Add two script files and paste in the two files from our email: Pushbuild.gs and website-table-to-sheets.gs. Save, then reload the sheet. A Pushbuild menu appears.
  3. Add your key. Choose Pushbuild, then Set key, and paste the key from your signup email. The first time a script runs, Google asks for permission because it works in your own account. Review it and allow it.
  4. Run it. Choose Pushbuild, then Import web table. The table lands from row 4 and replaces what was there.

Try it on any table in our data analysis posts.
