What it returns
Contributions to state and local candidates, party committees and PACs, collected from each state's campaign finance agency and mapped onto one schema: recipient, candidate, contributor, contributor type, city, state, ZIP, employer, occupation, amount, date and receipt type.
Search one state or several by recipient or candidate name, contributor, employer, occupation, contributor city, state or ZIP, minimum amount and date range, newest or largest first. Or group the matches to get totals by recipient, contributor, employer, occupation, year, state or contributor state, for example the top employers giving to a candidate or out-of-state money into a race.
States covered: Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Indiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, Oklahoma, Texas and Washington, more added as their agencies publish bulk files. Contributor street addresses are not included.
Sources: Colorado TRACER, Indiana Election Division, Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure Commission, Oklahoma Ethics Commission, Illinois State Board of Elections, Texas Ethics Commission, Minnesota Campaign Finance Board, Washington Public Disclosure Commission, Hawaii Campaign Spending Commission and New York State Board of Elections (data.ny.gov, from 1999) bulk data, rebuilt weekly. Years covered vary by state (Illinois from 1994; Minnesota from 2015; Nebraska from 2022 on its current system).
