Is Toast a good fit for your bar, and what should it connect to?

Toast is a restaurant point of sale that many bars and pubs run behind the counter. Tabs, quick reorders, menus that change by time of day and staff tips all live in one system. Here is what to check for a bar, and the connections owners ask for once it is running.

Is Toast a good fit?

Where Toast suits bars and pubs, and what to check before you commit.

  • Good fit: bars that serve food as well as drinks and want the kitchen and the bar on one system.
  • Good fit: busy service where bartenders open and close tabs all night and need tips reported cleanly.
  • Check first: Toast processes card payments itself, so its payments come with the POS.
  • Check first: if you track bottles and kegs closely, confirm how your inventory tool will get sales from Toast before you commit.

What to connect Toast to

Each one is a working piece you can open and check when it's done.

Pour and sales report

Drink sales from Toast lined up against what you received from distributors, so a gap shows up in the week it happens.

Questions people ask first

Is Toast good for a bar that serves little food?

It can be. Toast is built around restaurants, so a drinks-only bar should check that tab handling and its bar screens suit the way the team works.

Can Toast track liquor inventory?

Toast has inventory features, and dedicated bar inventory tools also exist. What matters is that sales reach whatever you count in; we connect the two when it doesn't happen on its own.

Can tips go straight to payroll?

Often, through Toast's own payroll or a partner connection. When your payroll provider isn't covered, we build the handoff from Toast's data.

Do you sell or install Toast?

No. We work with the system you already chose and connect it to the rest of your tools.
